Back to the Beach for a Day (and Hosted by a French Quiltmaker)

It seems that every village in France has a memorial to the  local men killed in the First World War

My host, Florence. Her grandfather was a soldier during the Great War. When she was younger she lived near a village that had been abandoned after the war, as there were no more men to live there. She and five others lived a communal farming life for many years. There was no ideology, no political theory, just simple communal living.

Florence is now a quilting enthusiast. She is familiar with Quakers, the  Amish and the Mennonites through  her interest in quilts and her visits to the US.
A glimpse of the sea at Valras Plage before heading inland again.
